.... and we had a GREAT time!!!
The show committee did an amazing job, it was all just about perfect! Although if the weather had been a little warmer, I would not have complained :) Thank goodness there was hot water for the dog baths!!!
The hotel was terrific, with HUGE rooms and a super friendly and helpful staff. The exhibition/grooming area was great, no one was cramped for space and many of the grooming spots had really good views of the rings. One of my favorite things was that the action in the ring that the videographer was recording was projected up on the wall so even if you were not in good position to view the down and backs, you could watch them up on the wall. You could even watch the competition while you were in a class showing your dog!
I do have a few little brags.... I took three dogs with me and all three came home with ribbons and trophies!
6 month 2 week old Max (WhiteStar's Beyond Thunderdome) made the cut in both Futurity and Sweeps and in a huge (23 dogs) puppy class took 4th place.
10.5 year old Icer (CH Tundra Winds' 32 Degrez of WhiteStar WSX HIC) who was COMPLETELY naked (possibly the MOST naked dog at the Specialty) took 3rd place in Veteran Sweeps and 2nd place in Veteran Dog. Even better than the placements were the compliments I received on his still effortless movement :)
15 month old Babe (WhiteStar's Ready For Anything HIC) proved she really is ready for anything. She won the 15 and over Futurity class and took Reserve Intersex for her age group. She was 3rd in the Puppy Sweepstakes. And although she brought home no ribbon, her performance in the Bred-By class made me incredibly proud as her breeder. There were 48 in the class, Judge Annie Clark placed her top 10 dogs in order from 1st thru 10th. Babe was 6th.
Now I get to spend the week catching up at home and work.... I'd really rather be back in Owensboro!!
